Protesters close roads around Umgeni Business Park

According to eNCA report about 400 protesters blocked roads in the area by burning tyres and rocks.

It’s believed the protests are over demands for RDP houses.

Police captain Thulani Zwane has asked motorists to avoid the N2 to allow police to secure the area.

“Protesters are rioting and behaving in a very violent manner,” an eyewitness told News24.

A string of traffic reports have since come through on Twitter on Tuesday morning, urging users to steer clear of the affected area.
