Public nabbed three alleged robbers
On Monday members of the public responded quickly when they nabbed three men who had robbed a cellphone shop in Cape Town CBD during lunch.
The incident occurred at about 13:30 when the men, wearing police uniforms and brandishing firearms, entered Shezaad Mohamad’s shop on Strand Street, demanding cellphones and money, reported Netwerk24.
Mohamad said it was members of the public who came to his aid and caught the robbers and police only arrived on scene about an hour afterwards.
Police spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana said police found two cellphones, a gun and ammunition in the suspects’ possession, reported Sapa.
No one was hurt in the robbery.
A fourth suspect managed to escape in a white Toyota Etios. The three suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.
