According to News 24, the National Prosecuting Authority has decided not to prosecute Carl Pistorius for reckless and negligent driving over a head-on collision between his vehicle and another in August last year.
However, it is reported that the director of public prosecutions has found that the other driver in the incident should be charged with reckless driving, eNCA legal reporter Karyn Maughan tweeted.
Pistorius, the brother of paralympian Oscar Pistorius, had to be freed from the wreckage of his car with the Jaws of Life. Two passengers in his car were unhurt, reported Sapa.
“Carl suffered poly-trauma injuries during the accident. These included lacerations to his heart and liver and he also went into respiratory failure,” AFP quoted family spokesperson Anneliese Burgess as saying in August last year.
Pistorius was acquitted in May 2013 of culpable homicide and reckless driving over a fatal crash in 2008 in which his vehicle collided with a motorbike driven by a woman who died in hospital a few days later.
