New school provides hope for children: Motshekga

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says high quality facilities at schools in previously disadvantaged communities provide hope for children in the area.

She was speaking at the opening of the new state-of-the-art Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School in Daveyton on Wednesday morning.

The school is to cater for 1200 children from Grade R to Grade 7.

It was established to relieve overcrowding at schools as well as to accommodate learners from a small nearby farm-school called Bapsfontein Primary School.

Motshekga says, “It’s humbling and exciting to see that government can offer such facilities for a community like this one, you can see the RDP homes, and by the look of kids from around here, they come from a deprived community.”

She adds: “I am very happy that we can provide such high class facilities for them.”
