Newly signed striker Jeremy Brockie has been praised by SuperSport coach Gordon Igesund following a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates.
According to News 24, the New Zealand international goal poacher’s second half strike was enough to eliminate the Buccaneers from the Nedbank Cup, in a last 16 encounter, played at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Sport24 in a post-match interview, Igesund hinted that the 27-year-old forward could score plenty of goals this season if he manages to get a good ball supply.
“I think Jeremy (Brockie) was very outstanding in the game as were the rest of the players,” said Igesund.
“He was just unlucky not to score in the first half.
“I know his capabilities, he is a great finisher and he scores goals.
“I always see that also in our training sessions and he is very good even when it comes to reading the game.
“He is always in great positions to score goals, so he needs players who can play long balls to him.
“Like the pass he received from David Mathebula that was so fantastic and he scored from that.”
Since joining United in the January transfer window, the Christchurch-born player has managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in all competitions.
