ANC calls for public servants’ lifestyle audits
ANC president Jacob Zuma has sent out a strong anti-corruption message to civil servants, calling for audits to be conducted on the lifestyles of all civil servants to root out the corruption scourge.
The ANC wants the security cluster and key civil servants to be rotated between departments.
The ruling party has also challenged the private sector to subject its employees to a lifestyle audit.
Speaking at the closing of the National General Council meeting in Midrand on Sunday, Zuma emphasised that “government should conduct lifestyle audits of all employees of State and its related entities.
“The vetting process should be expedited. There should be a single vetting agency to vet all strategically-placed civil servants, those who reject promotions even though it comes with an improved remuneration package.”
Meanwhile, Co-operative Governance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, says there’s a need to evaluate ANC councillors ahead of the 2016 Local Government elections. He briefed the media on the resolutions of the delegates at the ANC NGC.
Gordhan says the evaluation would enable the ruling party to determine which councillors should be retained in some areas.
